The Miller Mansion
(Private property ~ not open to public.)
Home of society matriarch and anti-slavery leader Cynthia Catlin Miller who hosted Frederick Douglass to tea here in 1854 during the original anti-slavery convention. In 1849, two young fugitive slave girls being hidden by Mrs. Miller were kidnapped from her home. Undeterred, she continued to provide safe harbor to escaping slaves until the Civil War.
