Tansit_building-thumb

The National Transit Building was the operational headquarters and management seat of authority and control for 84% of the domestic oil industry in the 1890’s and the early 1900’s.

One of the most important men associated with the National Transit Building is John D. Rockefeller.

The Oil City Civic Center, Inc. has worked together with many area organizations and trusts to continue the restoration and preservation of the building. The exterior stone and brick on the Seneca and Center Street sides have been cleaned, the boiler has been rebuilt and new water lines were run, replacing lines that were over 100 years old.
